Bright white smile after Hollywood smile dental treatment in Istanbul
Hollywood smile dental work in Istanbul.

You’ve seen the results on Instagram — brilliant white teeth, perfectly even, that “movie star” look that’s technically impossible to achieve with whitening alone. What you might not have known is that a significant portion of those smiles were done in Istanbul.

Turkey is now one of the top three destinations globally for dental work, and the Hollywood Smile — a full set of veneers or crowns that completely transforms your teeth — is the flagship procedure. The price difference versus the US or UK is so large that patients often save enough money to pay for flights, hotels, and a week of vacation and still come out thousands ahead.

Here’s how it actually works.

What Is a Hollywood Smile?

The term “Hollywood Smile” refers to a full-mouth cosmetic dental makeover — typically 16–20 teeth — using dental veneers or crowns to create a uniform, white, symmetrical smile. It’s not a single product; it’s a result achieved through different materials and techniques depending on your teeth and what look you want.

The main options:

Composite veneers — A resin material applied and shaped directly on your teeth. Fastest and cheapest, but less durable (5–7 years) and more prone to staining. Good for minor corrections.

Porcelain veneers — Thin shells of porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth. More natural-looking, stain-resistant, longer-lasting (10–20 years). Require some enamel removal.

E-max veneers (lithium disilicate) — The premium porcelain option. Ultra-thin, highly aesthetic, excellent light transmission for a natural look. Istanbul price: $300–$600 per tooth.

Zirconia crowns — Full ceramic crowns that cap the entire tooth. Stronger than veneers and preferred when there’s significant existing damage. Istanbul price: $250–$400 per tooth.

Istanbul Prices vs. Home

The math here is genuinely striking.

Procedure Istanbul (per tooth) US (per tooth) UK (per tooth)
Composite veneers $180–$250 $800–$1,500 £600–£1,000
Porcelain veneers $200–$350 $1,200–$2,500 £1,000–£2,000
E-max veneers $300–$600 $1,500–$3,000 £1,200–£2,500
Zirconia crowns $250–$400 $1,000–$2,500 £800–£2,000

A full Hollywood Smile (20 teeth, E-max or zirconia) as an all-inclusive Istanbul package: $5,500–$7,500.

The equivalent in the US: $25,000–$45,000. In the UK: £20,000–£40,000.

Most Istanbul packages include: the veneers/crowns themselves, temporary veneers during the waiting period, hotel accommodation (6–8 nights), airport transfers, pre-operative X-rays and consultations, and post-op medications.

The Process: What Actually Happens

Visit 1 (Days 1–2): Consultation and planning. Your dentist takes X-rays, impressions, and photographs. You discuss the desired shape, color, and size. If any existing issues need addressing first (cavities, gum disease), these are treated now.

Day 2–3: Your natural teeth are prepared. For veneers, a thin layer of enamel (0.5–0.7mm) is removed from the front surface. For crowns, more tooth structure is reduced to accommodate the cap. Temporary veneers are placed — you leave looking better already.

Days 3–7: The lab makes your permanent restorations. Good Istanbul labs use digital design (CAD/CAM) and take 3–7 days depending on complexity. You’ll have time to explore the city.

Day 7–8: Permanent veneers or crowns are bonded. Adjustments are made until the bite feels right. Final photographs.

Is It Worth It? The Honest Assessment

The case for yes:

The quality at reputable Istanbul clinics genuinely competes with what you’d get in the US or UK. Turkish dentists are well-trained (many did postgraduate programs in Europe), the lab equipment is modern, and the materials used — E-max, zirconia — are the same international brands. At 75–83% savings, the economics are overwhelming.

The case for caution:

Veneers and crowns are irreversible. When a dentist removes enamel to prepare your teeth, that enamel is gone permanently. You’ll need to maintain those veneers for the rest of your life. If they chip or fail while you’re back home, getting repairs requires either flying back or finding a local dentist willing to match the work — neither is ideal.

Some patients also end up with teeth that are too white or too uniform, looking more artificial than they wanted. The solution: bring reference photos, communicate clearly about the look you want, and ask to see mock-ups (digital or physical wax-ups) before any enamel is touched.

Finally, budget clinics sometimes rush the process and use lower-tier lab work. This is where Istanbul’s medical tourism market has a split quality tier: top clinics are excellent, bargain hunters can end up with poor results.

💡 Pro Tip: Get a “smile design” preview before committing. Reputable Istanbul dental clinics use digital smile design software to show you exactly what your result will look like before any work starts. If a clinic skips this step, ask for it or look elsewhere.

Choosing a Clinic

Look for:
– Dentists with international affiliations or postgraduate training credentials
– In-house lab (faster turnaround, better communication between dentist and technician)
– Digital smile design tools
– Consistent Google/Trustpilot reviews from international patients
– Clear written treatment plan with itemized costs before you arrive

What to avoid: Clinics quoting suspiciously low prices (sub-$200 per tooth for E-max is a red flag), anyone who rushes you from consultation to preparation in the same day, and any clinic that can’t explain what material they’re using and why.

Prices last updated: March 2026. Exchange rate: 1 USD ≈ 45 TL.
