November is a good month for Istanbul if you like culture more than beach weather. The summer crowds have thinned, hotel prices can be kinder, and the city moves indoors without going quiet. You get a major intercontinental marathon, a large music festival, current museum exhibitions, theatre, concerts, and plenty of coffee breaks when the rain arrives.
The catch is simple: November weather changes quickly, and event information moves fast. A listing that looks complete today may change its ticket tier, start time, or venue rules tomorrow. I checked official venue pages and the current race listing for the dates below. Treat this as your shortlist, then check the linked organizer page before paying.
The big date: Istanbul Marathon on 1 November
The Türkiye İş Bankası 48th Istanbul Marathon is listed for Sunday, 1 November 2026. It is the city’s famous Asia to Europe race, crossing the Bosphorus and finishing at Sultanahmet Square, between Sultanahmet Mosque and the Obelisk. The current route listing gives the start as the area in front of the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü Metrobüs stop in Üsküdar and the finish as Sultanahmet Meydanı in Fatih.
There are 42K and 15.5K race categories, plus a public run. The current RaceTurkiye listing displays 1,200 TL as a starting price for both the marathon and 15.5K. It also says final 2026 fees have not been published and tells runners to confirm details on the event’s own website. That is not a contradiction to ignore. It means the displayed price is a useful planning number, not a promise that your checkout total will be 1,200 TL.
If you are not running, the marathon still affects your visit. Roads around the bridge, Beşiktaş, Karaköy, Eminönü, and the Old City can be restricted. Cross-town taxi plans are especially fragile that morning. Put your sightseeing on one side of the water, use rail or ferry options where they are operating, and expect detours. Check the official Maraton İstanbul site for the final course map and road notices.
💡 Pro Tip: If your flight, museum booking, or airport transfer falls on 1 November, leave more time than your map app suggests. The bridge closure is the point, not a small inconvenience.
MIX Festival 2026 at Zorlu PSM
For live music, the cleanest November date on the official calendar is MIX Festival 2026 on Friday, 6 November at Zorlu PSM. The announced line-up includes James Hype, Kelis, Saint Etienne, Sleaford Mods, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, Dov’è Liana, Dumbo Gets Mad, Egosex, Islandman, Cihangir Eryıldız Live, Donna Mobile by Elif Çağlar, and Koffein Club Radio. A second MIX Screen stage adds Ari Alpert, Berdin Demir, Touchy Toy Collective, and other acts.
Zorlu PSM is at Zorlu Center, Levazım Mah. Koru Sok. No:2/PSM/70, Zincirlikuyu, Beşiktaş. The venue’s box office is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00. The official festival page did not expose a TL ticket amount when I checked, so I am not going to invent one. Use the official MIX Festival listing to check the current ticket tier and any age or entry rules.
Zorlu is easy to reach by the M2 metro at Gayrettepe, with a walk through the Zorlu Center connection, and by Metrobus at Zincirlikuyu. Buses also serve the complex. Give yourself time to find the correct stage. Zorlu PSM is not one small club. It is a group of rooms inside a major shopping and entertainment complex.
For another night at the same venue, the official listing shows Jethro Tull at the Turkcell Stage on 14 November 2026 at 21:00. Ticket prices were not shown in the source pages I checked. November is a good month to browse the venue calendar after you know your hotel location, rather than forcing every night into a pre-booked plan.
Yoko Ono at Sakıp Sabancı Museum
Rainy November days are exactly what museums are for, and the Yoko Ono: Insound and Instructure exhibition gives you a strong reason to travel north from the historic center. The official exhibition page lists the show from 25 June through 27 December 2026. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and closed on Mondays.
The museum address is Emirgan, Sakıp Sabancı Cd. No:42, 34467 Sarıyer, Istanbul. This is not a quick walk from Sultanahmet. Take a bus along the European shore, use a ferry connection where it fits, or allow extra time for a taxi. The coastal approach is part of the appeal, especially when the Bosphorus is grey and the city feels calmer.
Current admission is 450 TL for adults, 330 TL for discounted visitors, and 225 TL for students. Admission is free on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 18:00. The ticket office closes at 17:30 and last entry is at 17:30. Pay in TL and check your bank’s current exchange rate rather than relying on an old dollar conversion.
Pair it with a slow Emirgan and Istinye afternoon, not a rushed checklist of Old City sights. The museum also has a permanent painting collection, so you can still have a worthwhile visit if you spend less time than expected in the temporary exhibition. Check the official SSM visit page before you leave for any holiday closure or ticket update.
Other November dates worth watching
TÜYAP International Istanbul Book Fair
The 43rd International Istanbul Book Fair is scheduled for 12 to 20 December 2026 at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Büyükçekmece. It is technically outside November, but it matters if your trip crosses into December. Büyükçekmece is far west of the historic center, so do not treat it as a casual add-on to a Sultanahmet morning. Check the official TÜYAP fair page for program and transport information.
Indoor music, theatre, and comedy
November’s program changes week by week. The official Zorlu calendar is a useful starting point, but it is not the only one. AKM, BKM, İş Sanat, and smaller Beyoğlu venues add concerts and plays throughout the month. Search by the Turkish date and venue name, then buy from the venue or its named ticket partner. Avoid a social media reseller who wants a bank transfer or asks for a photo of your passport.
10 November and the city’s tone
10 November is Atatürk Commemoration Day. You may notice a more reflective atmosphere and memorial ceremonies. It is not a normal festival date, so be respectful around official events and do not plan a loud tourist spectacle around a ceremony. Public transport and museums can run normally, but check individual notices if you are visiting a state institution.
What November weather means for your plans
Expect cool, damp days rather than guaranteed winter cold. A light waterproof shell, a warm layer, shoes with grip, and a small umbrella are more useful than a heavy suitcase full of summer clothes. The wind on ferries can make a 14°C afternoon feel colder. Keep one indoor backup for every full day.
My practical rhythm is one outdoor block before lunch, one indoor booking in the afternoon, and a flexible dinner plan. That works for the marathon weekend, a museum day, or a concert night. It also stops rain from turning a normal change of plan into a bad trip.
For broad route ideas, use our Istanbul Events Calendar 2026, then use the metro, Metrobus, and Marmaray guide to build a realistic transfer. Our Istanbul autumn guide is helpful for the general feel of the season, but this November list is the one to check for dated plans.
A simple November plan
- 1 November: watch or run the marathon, but plan around road restrictions.
- 6 November: go to MIX Festival at Zorlu PSM if the line-up and ticket tier suit you.
- Any Tuesday to Sunday: visit Yoko Ono at SSM, ideally with time for Emirgan.
- 14 November: consider Jethro Tull or another Zorlu PSM listing, after checking tickets.
- 12 to 20 December: add TÜYAP Book Fair only if your trip extends into December.
Do not overbook Istanbul. Leave room for a ferry, a long lunch, and the kind of small street you only notice when you are not running to the next attraction. November rewards that slower pace.
Price disclaimer: Ticket prices and event schedules can change. The 450 TL, 330 TL, and 225 TL Sakıp Sabancı Museum prices and the 1,200 TL marathon listing were checked against the sources linked above on 14 September 2026. Confirm the final price, availability, venue rules, and transport notices before booking.
